Chef Gene Gonzalez Launches Two Culinary Gems

Anvil Publishing Inc., eleven time Publisher of the Year awardee by The Manila Critics Circle, adds to its list two books on pastries and desserts: Modern Philippines Confections and Breads, Cakes, Pastries and More authored by Chef Gene Gonzalez, founder and president of Café Ysabel Inc. and The Center for Asian Culinary Studies.

Chef Gene whose books are recipient of two World Gourmand Awards features original baking recipes by cereals and food technologist Efren G. Bunquin (from his books The Golden Treasury of Baking and Candyman King Kitchen). Breads, Cakes, Pastries and More include popular recipes of local breads such as pan de sal, mason especial, ensaimada, Chinese snacks such as hopia, bitso-bitso and pilipit, European breads such as Pizza Italiana, Danish croissant and L'Gateau sans rival and many more.

Chef Gene is author of Anvil Publishing's best-selling Little Books (Pinoy Classic Cuisine series) that won for him a special citation from the Manila Critics Circle in 2011. He also was awarded the Gerry Roxas Foundation Award for Excellence and the Hotel and Restaurant Association's Plate d'Or for excellence and dedication to culinary arts.

"Dean of Bakers" Efren G. Bunquin is the Filipino director of the Filipino director of the Fleishmann's Baking Institute whose objective is to educate bakes on the nutritive value of bread as a basic food and introduce more progressive and modern baking methods. Author of several Panary and Culinary Books now used as references, his research work in cereals were published in official publications of The International Association of Cereal Chemists.

They've released introduced Chef Gene's books at the newly relocated Café Ysabel in San Juan last June 6, 2018. During the event they also served some the breads and dessert from the book from pan de sal to macarons. They also have some games and raffle for baking and cooking tools. Congratulations again to Chef Gene and Anvil Publishing for another success event.
