Boozy Night at Petra & Pillar

Boozy Night at Petra & Pillar

Petra & Pilar Restaurant re-opened last October 2016 at the ground floor, JAKA Center Building, Urban Avenue corner Pasong Tamo, Makati City. Open Monday through Friday at 7am to midnight. This previously high-end carinderia is now a move welcoming place to hangout to enjoy good food and a fully stocked bar of draft beer and signature cocktails like P+P vs GT (Petra's version of the classic Gin&Tonic).

JAKA President and CEO, Katrina Ponce Enrile, says the restaurant which can sit approximately 100 guests comfortably, is perfect for company parties, corporate meetings, product launches and many more. I was invited for their Boozy Night last April 18, 2018. They've let us sample their Pinoy Summer Cocktails which is inspired by local fruits infused with some with known cocktails. Putting a Filipino twists to your beloved alcoholic concoction.

Gin Cala
[ Gin and house made spicy Ginger syrup }

Coco Loco

[ Vodka with house made Coconut and Lemongrass syrup ]

Manila Sunshine

[ Lambanog base with fresh Pineapple and mango ]

Binibining Paloma

[ Fresh Pomelo, Tequila and house made Bay leaf syrup ]

My favorite among the three was Coco Loco. It's strong at first but as soon as the ice dilutes it was so good. It did remind me of cool summer nights at the beach.

Filipinos love eating and spending time with people they care about. Petra & Pilar offers three exciting boodle sets that everyone will enjoy. It comes with flavored rice (garlic rice, bagoong rice or crab fat rice) and desserts. We got to experience their boodle dishes and it was a feast.

Fiesta Boodle
[ Pancit Habhab, Chicken Pork Adobo, Pork BBQ, Hilabos na hipon, Kropek, Garlic Rice, Pineapple Tomato salad in Crab Fat, Itlog na Maalat, and Saging Con Yelo ]

Salu–Salo Boodle
[ Pancit Bihon, Chicken Wings, Inihaw na Liempo, Ensaladang Mangga with bagoong, Spicy Tahong, Kropek, Bagoong Rice, and Buko Pandan ]

Blowout Boodle
[ Pancit Canton, Fried Calamari, Breaded Porkchop, Chicken Inasal, Kropek, Crab Fat Rice,
Ensaladang Talong with Bagoong, and Fresh Fruit ]

Although it was served differently from their boodle sets, most of the dishes were offered that evening. My eyes were already full from looking at it. 🤣

Inihaw na Bangus
Spicy Tahong, Hilabos na Hipon, Camaron Rebosado and Calamares
Lumpiang Shanghai, Salpicao, BBQ Spare Ribs and Chicken Wing Salpicao
Pork Belly Lechon
Buko Pandan
OVERALL: You'll enjoy lutong bahay style Filipino dishes. Soul-satisfying Filipino favorites found in one place. They've created flavorsome and sumptuous food that can I'm sure you'll come back for. There were several dishes that stood out: calamares, salpicao and spicy tahong. As for the dessert their Buko Pandan was on point too, although the bukos was too (as they say in Filipino) "matanda" cause it was a bit hard to eat but the creaminess of the base stayed true to the traditional buko pandan recipe.

Limited parking space too, around 8 parking slots  but I asked the guard in duty for help and she directed me to Mini Stop parking. Ask permission first before proceeding there.
