BOHOL 2018

BOHOL 2018
My friend from elementary had her wedding in Bohol. So I decided to fly in early to do some relaxation and activities. I’ve been to Bohol 10 years ago with my family and it was the perfect moment to visit it again and see what is different from what I've experienced before. The nuptials was held on a Saturday so I flew in Tuesday early morning. I didn’t sleep the night before cause I'm afraid of oversleeping and missing out my flight.

DAY 1

So I was groggy the whole time, when I arrived in Bohol the first thing I asked around was how much is the ride from Tagbilaran Airport to Moon Fools Hostel in Panglao. It depends on what you want they have Php 600 for private AC vehicle then tricycle for Php 300 I felt it was expensive and the driver game me Php 250 so I took it since I was really tired my flight due lack of sleep. The distance from airport to my hostel is 20km that an understandable rate.

Transportation rates from airport to Pangalao:
Php 600 - Private AC Van
Php 300 - Tricyle
* You can ask for habal habal rates, I didn't ask for this anymore since my bag was big and I'm not comfortable riding on a motorcycle with it.

I was able to take note of packages he offers which you guys can use for comparison when you visit Bohol this year. These rates you can be bargained, so utilize your haggling skills. I didn't take the tricycle tour since I'm traveling alone, I was able to get a habal-habal or motorcycle ride for Php 900 to Danao.

TRICYCLE TOUR RATE

I arrived at Moon Fools Hostel all tired, so I checked in and took a nap. Then I passed by Alona Beach to get some sun and take a dip.

Knowing I’ll be having Kuya Ramel to drive me to Danao using his motorcycle I made sure to get enough rest. I know it will be a long and uncomfortable ride.

DAY 2

I've prepared myself enough sleep for the habal-habal ride. I didn't want to spend more on tricycle so I really had to push through with the motorbike. If you are wondering how much if I took the tric ride, it will cost around Php 1,800. I've done The Plunge and Suislide. It was an intense yet invigorating experience. I highly recommend to try these activities when you are in Bohol.

DAY 3

I joined my friend’s group tour and we were 47 pax in one bus. One lucky tour company! Anyway they have arranged the itineray for us. We started at 8am and finished at around 6pm. The meeting place was at South Palm Beach Resort.

Man-made Forest

A two-kilometer stretch of densely planted mahogany trees in the order of Loboc and Bilar towns. The uniformity in height of the trees, spread of its branches thickness and design of leaves with different species of trees and giants ferns around the older trees make Bohol Forest stand out.

Philippine Tarsier Sanctuar

Found in the interior forest foothill of Corella town is the Philippine tarsier and wildlife sanctuary of Canapnapan, Corella, Bohol. Program goals of the foundation include:
1) Increased environmental awareness and establishment of protested areas for wildlife

2) Introduction of eco-tourism related livelihood programs to provide economic and social development opportunities to the locals.

Chocolate Hills

More than 1,268 cone-shaped hills spread over an area of 50 square kilometers varying in height from 30 to 120 meters. Make these geological formation a majestic sight. One can have a 360 degree view of these hills in a viewing deck in Carmen Town.

Loboc River Cruise

One of the cleanest rivers in the peaceful municipality of Loboc is well-known for an hour Loboc River Dinner Cruise that starts by the Loay Bridge and Children's Choir.

Butterfly Sanctuary

The butterflies were cute to look at but when I saw the animals in captivity I felt bad for them.

Baclayon

One of the oldest in the Philippine (1717-1727) The Church of Immaculate Concepcion in Baclayon employed 200 native forced laborers (Obras Pias) to out and drag coral blocks from the sea using bamboos to lift stones in position with millions of white eggs as cement. It was rebuild after it was damaged by a 7.2 magnitude earthquake back in 2013.

When we got back to the resort, I left my bag there since I will be moving the accommodation to Muro Ami where my other high school friend was staying. Muro Ami wasn't the fanciest place we've been to but they certainly have great affordable food.

DAY 4

We had a tea party, my friend bride’s version of bachelorette’s tea party. It was held at Blue Water Resort. It was gorgeous and beautifully executed. The table setting looked like a Pinterest post. We were all at awed. They served us hot chocolate and tea plus little snacks like bite size burgers and local delicacies like flavored puto and mini ensaimada.

Majority of the guests of the bride and groom arrived today they held a welcome dinner for their guests at Bohol Bee Farm. It was also my first time there. I didn’t realize how huge the place was. It had function room, restaurant, cafe and hotel.

DAY 5

Wedding day! It was a beautiful ceremony the church was adorned by roses, it was the main theme of their wedding. The ceremony was held at San Agustin Church, Panglao, Bohol.

For their reception, we headed over South Palm Beach Resort. It was another beautiful spread - candle light dinner by the beach. Just a romantic setup. The whole day was just specular and breathtaking. The had fireworks, fire dancers and folk dancers (for foreign guests).

It was nice to go back to Bohol after almost of decade since my last visit. A lot has change and certainly there are more tourist compared to before. My only concern was the rates of the tricycle and habal habal rides. Rates normally start at Php 150 for 5km distance and it depends on the driver. Some will even ask for Php 250 (tricycle driver) with similar distance. Also some food prices are almost the same in Manila.
