Alegria Cozinha Moderna & Sangria Bar

Alegria Cozinha Moderna & Sangria Bar

Looking for some distinct Latin American food? Alegria Cozihna Moderna and Sangria Bar brings to life the diverse and bold flavors from South and Central America. They've transformed traditional dishes into opulent plates of art. Each dish was beautifully presented not only it was visually appealing it was also a sensation to the palate. They've infused Latin American cuisine with Asian flavors.

Mural by Kookoo Ramos
When you enter the establishment you'd feel a sense of joy and hearty because of the vibrant colored pieces of decor. The same feeling their name entails. Alegria means happiness or joy in Portuguese. The highlight was the mural by Kookoo Ramos which depicts what the restaurant is all about.

SANGRIAS
They offer 9 sangria variations instead of the usual 2 sangria flavors. They've thought of other flavors for their customers to enjoy. We got to try four of them and I loved their Litchi and Verde both were refreshing and fruity it reminded me of summers at the beach.

Verde (Php 280)
[ White wine, wine, apple, kiwi and cucumber ]

Litchi (Php 300)
[ White wine, vodka, elderflower and lychee ]

Cartel (Php 280)
[ Red wine, Barcadi Carta Oro, Calamondin, Guava, Mango and Ginger ]

La Quica (Php 300)
[ Rose wine, vodka, cherry and rose ]

Verde (Php 280) - Cartel (Php 280) - Litchi (Php 300) - La Quica (Php 300) and new cocktail Pepino Chelada.

PEQUENOS PRATOS

Coxinha (Php 200)
[ Pulled chicken, chicken milk broth dough and wasabi aioli ]

It was light and crispy but we all hoped it had more wasabi aioli to add more taste to it. Perfect starter and with a Sangria glass in hand.

Maize Tortillas
They used raw tortilla and topped with different variations. You can order a platter (Php 450) of three or per piece (Php 160). I personally liked their Mi Japones because of the juicy steak with the intense flavors wasbi and nori. There's another one called O Vegano with grilled vegetables topped with bbq aioli.

El Mexicano
[ Puerto Rican pork loin, salsa creole, smoked esquites, red onion pickle cilantro, jalapeƱo, avocado (seasonal) and queso cotija ]

Alma Koreana
[ Prawn, squid ink batter, napcha kimchi, ssamjang aioli, kesong puts and smoked esquires ]

Mi Japones

[ Misono Steak, wasabi aioli, nori, mango salsa, sesame, smoked and red cabbage ]

(Mi Japones, Alma Koreana, El Mexicano)

ENTRADA

Pobla-No (Php 320)
[ Green pepper creme pasta, grilled calabacitas, cauliflower silvers and quest cotija ]

A healthy pasta treat where they used all vegan ingredients. It had a spicy kick to it which emphasized that with the right spices it can make an dish tasty and definitely not boring.

Marinero (Php 380)
[ Puerto Rican rice, vino, sun-dried tomatoes, peppers, chorizo kolbasz, chilean mussels, prawns and calamari ]

Beautifully plated and appetizing too. I found this delicious and with the fresh seafoods they used this one stood out.

CHURRASCO
These dishes are served with pork crackling crusted elite, arroz alegria and choice of: Red Hummus, Salsa Creole Sauce and Chimichurri. Between the two dishes we tried I liked the Pork Chops better, it had more impact to my tastebuds it was intensely sweet and savory.

Pork Chops (Php 450)
[ 48 hours Apple Brined Chops ]

Pollo Peruano (Php 420)
[ Peruvian Quarter Chicken ]

Pork Chops (Php 450) - Pollo Peruano (Php 420)

OVERALL: Since it's located on the 4th floor of Uniqlo Building, it's a bit difficult to find. There is an elevator at the back of Uniqlo or use the escalator to get to the top floor. Ideal location for private parties due to the location intimate feel to it. You'll need to splurge a bit for some of the dishes can be a bit pricey. I highly recommend their Marinero. You'll spend about Php 1,500 for two then Php 2,500 with drinks.
