Dong Juan (Mother Ignacia)

Dong Juan (Mother Ignacia)
Dong is a term of endearment in Cebu then Juan is a common Filipino name. So that’s how Dong Juan came about. Some people confuse it as a Korean restaurant because of the world Dong but don’t be fooled they serve comfort food with Filipino twist. The first branched open in Guadalupe, Cebu and this is their 11th branch that opened 3 years ago.

This Mother Ignacio branch is the Ancestral property of Severano Reyes the original Lola Basiyang. They maximized the original space and setup it up with chairs, tables and some areas coach with Filipino inspired pieces around the restaurant. Their goal is to provide a Filipino homey vibe. We met one of the owners, Ahwel, he explained thoroughly the history and stories how they started this branch. Not only that it is a pet friendly place too so you can bring your pets while having a good meal.

BURGERS are a must try. The patties were thick and juicy which was surprising when it comes to thick patties. The potato chips was store made and crispy. I really enjoyed it. It is pretty difficult to find an establishment that serves thick and juicy patties. Look no further check theirs own when you are in the area.

PASTA - I must say they were generous when it comes to the toppings event with the seafood. Plus their pasta was cooked perfectly al dente. For the price of each pasta it was super sulit in my book.

PIZZA -  If you are familiar for the familiar with Filipino version of pizza. It's normal done with biscuit dough. When you bite it it's crunchy and really requires you to use your hand instead of utensils. I have to admit I was not a fan of biscuit dough. I really prefer the chewy Italian dough. But they didn’t scrimp on ingredients which was a plus for those who like biscuit dough pizza. They truly catered to the Filipino palate when it comes to their pizza.

If you are also looking for a space for a big group, may it be for events or meetings. They offer rooms you can rent and it's consumable for food and drinks. Just call ahead of time to reserve for a space when you visit. Head's up though the parking is limited most especially during school dismissals cause it's right across
